The rural areas in the central and western regions were particularly devastated and could not be reached for a long time due to road damage and landslides.

The project of AWO International, SARBODAYA Nepal, CARDSN Nepal, donored by Volkshilfe and Neighbor in Need, is implemented in two areas of the most strongly affected district Nuwakot. The project will develop and strengthen local capacities in the field of disaster risk management, as well as a mechanism for effective prevention and response to disasters.

In cooperation with all project participants, measures for disaster risk management are to be integrated into the ongoing development work in the villages and also implemented in schools.
