Program objectives:

The countries of the Western Balkans are in transition: While economy and democracy are booming, a part of society continues to suffer from unemployment and poverty. In rural areas this is especially true for women and adolescents.

In January 2014 Volkshilfe established the three-year program "SEED" (Support of Educational and Employment Development) to support those parts of society being at risk of poverty. SEED Step II is the follow-up project and is mainly active in four areas: supporting local communities, supporting educational institutions, supporting private enterprises and funding programs.

In cooperation with local partner organizations and the "Austrian Development Agency", Volkshilfe provides support for adolescents and women for entering the labor market.

"SEED" stands for sustainable development aid. The main focus of the program is not only on job-related and thus income-generating measures, but also on training.

Volkshilfe contributes its many years of experience and supports both the partner organizations and their employees as well as the target groups of the partner organizations in the program countries, more than 2000 companies and unemployed people in all those regions where SEED Step II Programms are to be launched.

The program attaches particular importance to ensuring equal access to program activities for women and men, as well as by the program results.

Within the scope of the "SEED" program we are active in:

"SEED" is a three-year program of Volkshilfe funded by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA).
