Health Care for Refugees
"Health on Wheels", a project run by Volkshilfe, supports refugees in Lebanon through a mobile clinic.
Since the beginning of the Syrian civil war, Lebanon is facing one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises. Vokshilfe’s project “Health on Wheels” supports refugees in Lebanon through a mobile clinic.
For refugees, the long-lasting conflict as well as widespread poverty are causing numerous problems: insufficient medical care, housing areas remote from health facilities, lack of money for medication and therapy. Through a mobile clinic, Volkshilfe in cooperation with the local NGO Mausawat is improving access to primary health care and rehabilitation for particularly vulnerable persons.
The target group comprises of Syrian and Palestinian refugees with disabilities and their families, as well as local residents without access to health care. Many of our patients are children and youths.
The mobile clinic takes a holistic approach offering not only medical help, physical therapy, medication and medical aids, but also psychosocial support.
