Support for particularly vulnerable People

Emergency aid in the Kharkiv and Kherson region

Volkshilfe has been distributing food and hygiene parcels to people in need in the Kharkiv and Kherson regions since December 2022. The aid reaches vulnerable people in hard-to-reach areas near the front line and the border with Russia every month.

These include elderly people whose pensions are too low to cover all their basic needs. We also support people with disabilities, the chronically or seriously ill, single parents and families with many children.

Kharkiv and Kherson are among the coldest regions in Ukraine. In many parts of the region, the supply of district heating, gas and firewood has collapsed. As many forests are mined, people are unable to collect firewood. In the winter months, winter clothing and heating materials and appliances are therefore provided in addition to food and hygiene parcels.
