Rebuilding Agriculture and Livelihoods for Rural Communities in Kherson
Ukraine
Kherson Oblast was heavily impacted by Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. After months of occupation, parts of the region returned to Ukrainian control, but the effects of the war remain severe.
The agricultural sector has been devastated, leading to significant losses in production and income, leaving many residents reliant on humanitarian aid. Rural areas face a critical shortage of essential agricultural inputs, including seeds, fertilizers, seedlings, and equipment.
This project seeks to restore agricultural activities, enhance food security, reduce dependency on external aid, and support income generation, helping local communities regain financial and psychological stability and self-sufficiency. To achieve this, the project will distribute seeds, gardening tools, fruit tree seedlings, and poultry to farming households, while also establishing community-run greenhouses to provide 52 IDPs with opportunities for food production and income generation. A total of 2,225 individuals, including 775 IDPs, will benefit from the project. Furthermore, 8 staff members will benefit from psychological support, resulting in 2233 total project beneficiaries.
