Volkshilfe Austria
Who we are and what we do
Volkshilfe Austria is a non-profit, politically independent and non-denominational welfare organisation founded in 1947. Together with our nine regional organisations, we provide social services, advocate for social justice and support people in vulnerable situations throughout Austria.
International Cooperation
International cooperation has been a core part of Volkshilfe’s work since 1951. Together with local and international partner organisations, we respond to humanitarian crises and implement long-term development projects that strengthen communities and improve living conditions.
Over the past 75 years, Volkshilfe has carried out numerous projects in around 30 countries. Our work is guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a focus on reducing poverty and inequality, promoting access to education and healthcare, strengthening livelihoods and advancing gender equality.
Our Objectives
- Provide humanitarian assistance that saves lives, alleviates suffering and protects human dignity
- Deliver rapid and effective emergency response in times of crisis
- Support recovery, rehabilitation and reconstruction
